Grinnell
Regional Medical Center will conduct a community health needs assessment over
the next four months that will guide the hospital and Grinnell Regional Public
Health in addressing current and future healthcare needs for area residents.
“We
hope that residents will take advantage of this opportunity to provide input
into the future of healthcare and services we offer,” says Todd C. Linden, GRMC
president and CEO.
All information gathered can assist local
healthcare, public health, and related service providers, community
organizations, policymakers, and residents in making informed decisions on
improving access to services. The
assessment also looks at minimizing barriers to care, creating efficiencies in
the delivery of care, and developing local healthcare improvement strategies.
Vince
Vandehaar, MBA, from VVV Research & Development INC, an independent health
research and consulting firm from Olathe, Kan., has been retained to conduct
and complete this assessment.
In
March 2013, approximately 1,000 families in the GRMC service area will be
selected randomly to receive a comprehensive healthcare survey in the mail. This
is not a list from GRMC but all residents in the county. Those who receive this
survey are asked to please take the time to complete the assessment. An online version of the survey will be available.
Instructions for accessing it will be included with the mailing.
In
addition, a public Town Hall meeting will be held on Thursday, May 2, at the Grinnell
Elks Lodge, 720 3rd Ave., Grinnell. A meal will be provided to all
participants in the town hall discussion on health concerns in the county.
For more information about the survey
and the upcoming town hall meeting, contact Patty Hinrichs at 641-236-2551 or
Suzanne Cooner, at 236-2300.
