Grinnell Regional Medical Center will hold a golf
tournament on Friday, June 28, in partnership with and the Grinnell Area
Chamber of Commerce. This is the second year for this joint golf outing between
the two non-profits.
For the 2013 tournament, a top prize of $1,000 will be
awarded to the lowest scoring team. Flight prizes will be awarded as well as
pin event prizes. The tournament will be held at the Grinnell Golf and Country
Club, with tee off times of 7:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
“I can’t tell you how important a vibrant first-rate hospital
is to our economic vitality,” says Angela Harrington, executive director of the
Grinnell Chamber of Commerce. “Easy access to quality healthcare is critical to
attracting and retaining business, industry, workforce, and residents. The work
done by both the chamber and the hospital benefits the entire area.”
“This golf
tournament continues to be such an excellent friend-raiser for GRMC and the Chamber,”
says Todd C. Linden, GRMC president and CEO, and Chamber board member. “We welcome all area golfers to join in the
fun. I haven’t missed an outing since I came to GRMC 20 years ago. We believe
the partnership with the Grinnell Area Chamber of Commerce makes sense for both
organizations. We enjoy bringing together businesses and individuals who
support the community and hospital.”
The format is a
four-player, best shot tournament. A special recognition award will be given to
the Poweshiek County team with the lowest score, as local teams compete for
bragging rights.
Entry fee for the tournament is $85 per person and
cart rental is $30. A four-person team with a cart rental may register for
$400. Registration deadline is June 20.
This is the 24th time GRMC has hosted a
golf outing that is rooted in traditions and long-term relationships yet each
year offers new event challenges and prizes.
“Our sponsors have
been wonderful as we continue this longstanding tradition in Grinnell. I want to thank them for their support of the
medical center and the Grinnell chamber of commerce,” Linden says.
