Susan Witt wants
to do something special for the dedicated caregivers at Grinnell Regional
Medical Center, so she has decided to bolster the 2013 annual fund appeal with
a matching challenge from the Claude W. Ahrens Charitable Trust.
“Can you Imagine
Grinnell without our hospital?” asks Susan Witt, trustee of the Ahrens
Charitable Trust, past chair of the GRMC board of directors, and a current
member of the GRMC foundation board.
“I have such a
high regard for this remarkable institution and the people who provide care
there. Over the years I’ve relied on GRMC to bring my children into the world
and for to help with life’s emergencies. GRMC is not just my hospital. It’s the
hospital my family and our community relies on for good health. That’s why I’m
offering this annual fund challenge,” she says.
Under the
challenge, the Ahrens Charitable Trust will match every gift to the annual
fund, dollar for dollar, from now through the end of the calendar year up to
$10,000.
“We are so
grateful to Susan and the Claude W. Ahrens Charitable Trust for this wonderful
boost,” says George Drake, chair of the GRMC Foundation Board. “The annual fund drive is vital in
maintaining and enhancing GRMC’s care and services. A common myth is that
hospitals get enough funding from patient payments, insurance, and Medicare and
Medicaid. However, these sources do not cover all the expenses. The annual fund
allows us to close the gap and provide the needed resources to fund new
equipment and support our bike helmet, community care clinic, and hospice
programs to name a few. In today’s increasingly complex and costly healthcare
environment, the annual fund makes certain that the best technology, care, and
programs are available at GRMC.”
